Art and design skills units offer an opportunity to apply learning from previous units in different contexts. In this unit, learners develop their observational drawing, folding, pencil and scissor skills.

  • To explore mark-making using pencils by creating a simple observational drawing.

Lesson 2: Drawing faces

  • To observe carefully before drawing.
  • To reflect on a final drawing.

Lesson 3: Painting to music

  • To respond to music using paint.
  • To use paint to express ideas and feelings.

Lesson 4: Cutting skills

  • To develop cutting skills.

Lesson 5: Paper snakes

  • To fold, curl and cut paper to achieve a desired effect.
