Could work in pairs to develop a Doodler configuration; could build the circuit on the table before fitting it to the Doodler; should be provided with clues to help them put their Doodler together.

Learners working at a stretch

Should include detailed annotations on their final Doodler design sketch to explain their decisions (e.g., I chose to include five markers to improve the stability of my Doodler and increase the number of colours it uses); should include a switch as part of their design (see Design & Technology, Stage 4, Torches: Lesson 1: Electrical products); could be used as a ‘class technician’ to support their peers’ if they finish ahead of time.
