Differentiation
Learners needing support:
- May need some one-to-one modelling of how to attach things to their box loom. It might be easier for some learners to weave with soft fabric. Suggest they weave with the fabric strips and tie their other things, like plaits, on with knots.
- Some learners will need help to tie knots. Show them the technique of folding a thread in half to form a loop, then passing both ends through the loop and pulling tight (see slide 7).
Learners working at a stretch:
- Encourage learners to layer up the woven elements and try weaving in both directions to overlap pieces.
- Learners can think about combining their pieces in interesting ways rather than randomly attaching things to their box loom. They may find some interesting methods of their own for joining things to the box loom.
