Learners needing support
Could use slide 4 of the Activity: Children’s toy research PowerPoint file to describe the toy rather than explain the benefits of the features; could be provided with the Activity: Toy images rather than search for images and allow the children to focus on the toy analysis.
Learners working at a stretch
Should justify or suggest improvements to parts of a toy design by stating their existing or proposed additional benefits or functions, e.g., ‘I would add different shapes to these building blocks to make it more difficult and the ideas more complicated’; should include information about their favourite toy in the presentation; could use the Activity: Toy survey to speak to either a member of staff who is familiar with Stage 2/3 pupils or a group of Stage 2/3 pupils and ask them what they think of the toy and why.
